Located 15 miles east of Seattle is Redmond, a city with an economy based heavily on the technology sector. Microsoft is the largest employer in Redmond, with 34,000 employees, and other big-name tech companies include AT&T Mobility, Honeywell and Nintendo of America.
The city ranks high in education thanks to Lake Washington School District, DigiPen Institute of Technology and Lake Washington Technical College, and also rated high is healthcare in large part because of Swedish Redmond Hospital. Housing is still relatively affordable here, especially in relation to average income. In fact, Redmond earned a place on our list of the Most Affordable Cities in Washington for its mix of affordability and high quality of life.
Residents can enjoy 23 parks, and Redmond is billed as the “Bicycle Capital of the Northwest.”
