Victor Valley sits amid the beauty of the High Desert and is home to a network of high-quality health systems offering residents comprehensive care and advanced technology.

Located in Apple Valley, Providence St. Mary Medical Center opened in 1956 and is the oldest and largest hospital serving the Victor Valley. Today, the facility has 213 licensed beds, is a top employer providing 1,760 jobs, and annually sees nearly 64,600 emergency department visits.

When time is of the essence, you will find a leading-edge Primary Stroke Center here – the only one in the High Desert area. In May 2022, Healthgrades, a national resource connecting consumers, physicians and health systems, ranked Providence St. Mary third among California hospitals for stroke care and recognized the facility as among the best stroke care locations in the U.S. for the second consecutive year.

“Minutes can significantly impact the outcome of a patient who has suffered a stroke, which makes readily available staff and technology crucial. By offering a robust stroke-care experience, we can provide faster care with expert guidance, knowledge and framework that can lead to a more optimal recovery for the patient,” says Providence St. Mary Chief Medical Officer Dr. Charlie Abraham. “High Desert residents can rest easily knowing they live in proximity to some of the most qualified caregivers and doctors working today.”

A Heart for Service

Since its earliest days, Providence St. Mary has embraced its role in the community. In February 2021, during the pandemic, it opened the first vaccine clinic in the area at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church in Apple Valley and vaccinated 40,000 people.
