Fort Collins Medical Community Addresses Every Need
From pediatrics to geriatrics, the Fort Collins medical community works to address every patient's needs.
Improving quality, safety and the patient experience are all proven results when health care providers maximize information technology. That’s why Poudre Valley Health System has spent millions of dollars building an IT structure that’s one of the best of its kind in the nation. The outcome is secure access to patient documentation and clinical data, such as medical records, patient allergies, lab results, bedside medication verification and other critical information as well as providing patients with wireless Internet access.
Poudre Valley Hospital is also one of the leading examples of robotics use in surgeries and operations in the country. Most surgeons who are practicing medicine with robotics are doing it at PVH. Surgeons love the precision that comes with robotics, while patients appreciate the minimally invasive approach that lessens pain and recovery time. The PVHS has received national recognition for its technology innovations.
A Place for Anyone
In caring for Fort Collins’ youngest residents and their mothers, the birthing center has taken extra steps to provide a comfortable facility with quality health care. The center includes 12 new homelike labor and delivery rooms equipped with comfortable furniture and maple cabinets. It also includes two triage rooms for outpatient procedures and a special care nursery that is certified to care for the most critically ill babies.
Poudre Valley Hospital is also earning a reputation as an obesity-friendly facility that treats and accommodates larger patients comfortably and safely. Wider chairs in waiting rooms and admission areas; larger and stronger wheelchairs and commodes; gurneys and operating tables built to support 1,000 pounds; specially designed surgical equipment and supplies; and larger sizes in those stylish hospital gowns are just some of the adaptations made to ensure patient dignity and safety. In order to accommodate all levels of seniority, Columbine Health Systems oversees nursing homes, assisted-living centers and independent living apartments at its campuses in Fort Collins and Loveland. Columbine also provides extensive home care to the elderly, plus rehabilitation and therapy services.
And for those of more modest means, the Salud Family Health Center/Children’s Clinic is committed to serving the uninsured and under-insured in the Fort Collins area. All hospitals under the PVHS practice a strict adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, an independent board that grades hospital quality and safety. Each one is committed to bring it’s patients the best care and the best technology to do their part in improving patients’ quality of life.
