The living is easy for seniors in Titusville, with a host of housing options and services available to meet a variety of needs. Sand Point Senior Living offers independent and assisted living with one- and two-bedroom cottages and an assisted living building with 26 studio apartments. The facility has been open 22 years, says Michelle Tersigni, executive director. Other amenities include housekeeping, dining, activities, transportation and maintenance. Physical, occupational and speech therapy are offered on-site. Sand Point’s life-enrichment department plans educational and musical programs, crafts and a monthly themed dinner. “I’ve been here a little over a year,” Tersigni says. “I enjoy the residents – making their day, making them happy. I enjoy listening to their stories. They have so much to offer, so much history to learn from.” The 11-acre complex underwent a recent renovation, including new furnishings, paint, carpeting, dining room, roof and landscaping. The Royal Palms Senior Apartments, also in Titusville, has 96 one- and two-bedroom units, as well as a movie theater, fitness room, community center and clubhouse, and social and recreational programs. And for area seniors still living in their own homes, Comfort Keepers offers a helping hand for nonmedical needs, such as companionship, meal preparation, errands, respite care and grooming. “Our main clientele is the elderly,” says Mildred Hurd, office administrator at Comfort Keepers. “We help keep the house tidy, although we’re not a cleaning service; help with laundry and linens; take them grocery shopping or to the doctor. We’re nonmedical, but we can do some personal care, such as helping bathe, feed, dress and ambulate clients.”
