Renewable Energy Group, Ames, Iowa-based renewable fuels company, has taken their great success in lowa carbon energy production and made it into something even bigger.

On June 13, 2022, Chevron finalized its acquisition of Renewable Energy Group, making the business a hub for their renewables sector with a goal to push progress toward Chevron’s target to grow renewable fuel production capacity to 100,000 barrels per day by 2030. The newly created Chevron Renewable Energy Group will be headquartered here in Ames, Iowa.

Chevron Renewable Energy Group is taking these shared values and shared mission to continue growth not only within the renewable fuels industry, but within the Ames community as well.

Currently, the business unit is focused on the production of biodiesel and renewable diesel. However, in the future, it is expected that Chevron Renewable Energy Group will expand to focus more broadly on renewable fuels, growing the footprint in the Ames community.

While Chevron Renewable Energy Group looks to grow and diversify their business in Ames, the company also looks forward to growing and diversifying their workforce. The business is proud of the partnerships that they have within the community, including with Iowa State University, the Ames Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and other organizations.

The Ames community has played a significant role in the growth of the renewable energy business, and Chevron Renewable Energy Group looks forward to continuing to utilize the excellent pool of talent and skills to grow the business even more within the community.

With the complimentary capabilities of Chevron and Renewable Energy Group and their shared mission of lower carbon and renewable fuels, the growth of this new Chevron business unit is just beginning.

“Our business has gotten to where we are today because of the tremendous community support we have received throughout the years,” Lucke says. “We are proud to be a part of the Ames community and look forward to growing as part of this community in the years to come.”
