Higher education opportunities can be found both in and around West Des Moines. Almost 20 schools are located less than half an hour from the city, and West Des Moines has a two options closer to home.

Upper Iowa Center

Part of Upper Iowa University, Upper Iowa Center serves more than 600 students in West Des Moines. The center has almost 20 majors, as well as endorsements in teacher education, certificate programs and associate degrees.

Several of the classes are instructed by full-time Upper Iowa University faculty, and the rest of the adjunct faculty uses their practical experience to enrich the learning environment. Students can attend classes during the six, eight-week terms that the center offers.

William Penn University – College for Working Adults

Going back to school can be difficult when you’ve got a full-time job, but William Penn University’s College for Working Adults makes getting a degree easier. Thanks to its convenient location in West Des Moines, locals can choose from seven different degree programs and benefit from small class sizes.
