Snake River Landing

Stockman’s Restaurant spotlights steaks (ask about all-you-can-eat sirloin), burgers and seafood, while Mackenzie River Pizza, Pub & Grill has flatbreads, pastas and signature pizzas (try the barbecue). Love at First Bite Mercantile is a popular stop for gourmet confections and specialty foods. Buffalo Wild Wings is a familiar go-to for chicken, beer and more.

Downtown

There’s no snake on the menu at The Snakebite, just award-winning Americana. Irish specialties draw raves at The Celt. BlackRock (formerly Vino Rosso) serves up craft beers and fine wines, and Mexican dishes grace Pachangas’ lineup. Villa Coffeehouse and Café offers sips, sandwiches and sumptuous desserts (and also has an East Side location), and La Vanilla Bean’s European-style baked goods earn high marks. Other must-eat destinations are Diablas Kitchen which sources heavily from local farmers, meat providers, brewers and winemakers. Great Harvest Bread Company specializes in freshly grilled sandwiches along with salads, soups and craft coffees.

River Views

Bee’s Knees Pub rocks steak, chicken, seafood, burgers and adult beverages. Fine dining and homemade cheesecakes highlight Copper Rill’s menu. Sandpiper, a favorite local steakhouse, features a riverfront patio with picturesque views, and Snow Eagle Brewing & Grill combines hearty American dishes with a full Japanese and sushi menu. Republic American Grill & Tapas Bar excels at chef-driven, small-plate cuisine.

Ammon/East Side

Stellar Mexican fare at Café Sabor includes huge burritos and savory fish tacos, while the menu at recently opened Fuji Hibachi & Sushi ranges from light vegetable plates to hearty beef teriyaki Bento boxes. The Cellar keeps locals coming back for its steaks, seafood and chicken, and Aunt Annie’s Kitchen sweetens the mix with local gourmet popcorn, fudge, taffy and other treats. Abracadabra’s is open for breakfast and lunch, with menu items ranging from omelets to Belgian waffles to supreme nachos.

A Few Other Favorites …

Here are a few more local picks: North Hi-Way Café (short-order charm); Dixie’s Diner (’50s food and fun); The Blue Wave (renowned burgers); Smitty’s Pancake & Steak House (breakfast through dinner); Scotty’s Drive-in (retro burgers and shakes); Jaker’s (steak, seafood and burgers); and Idaho Brewing Company (craft brews, wines).
