With a cost of living well below the national average, affordable housing options and an abundance of outdoor recreation options, it’s no surprise that Southern Idaho cities consistently land on the lists of the best places to retire. It’s also no surprise that the region’s assisted living industry has continued to grow.
One of the newest facilities, Canyons Retirement Community in Twin Falls, is also the region’s only continuing care retirement community. Canyons offers three levels of housing and care — independent living cottages for single adults or couples, assisted living rooms and memory care rooms for seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia. Canyons’ THRIVE Memory Care program works with residents to optimize their functional independence through individualized daily routines, group outings and therapy. All Canyons residents have access to meals, social activities and rehabilitative therapies, including physical therapy, pain management and dialysis support.
Grace Assisted Living Facility in Twin Falls opened its doors in 2015. The $8 million, 78,000-square-foot apartment facility features several floor plans, including single studio apartments, two-bedroom units and even “friendship suites” that connect two studios with a shared bathroom. Even though meals in the spacious dining room are provided, each apartment unit at Grace Assisted Living is equipped with a kitchenette, offering another level of independence for residents. The pet-friendly complex also boasts four landscaped courtyards, a theater room, an exercise room, a library and even a beauty shop.
