A growing number of people are moving to Southern Idaho from states such as California, Washington and Arizona, for reasons that include a lower cost of living and strong sense of community. Here are some of the beautiful places to reside in the Magic Valley:
Twin Falls and Buhl
Twin Falls, ID is named for the nearby waterfalls on the Snake River, and the city has grown from 34,000 residents in 2000 to 43,000 residents in 2010. There are abundant stores, restaurants and parks, and the College of Southern Idaho provides academics as well as entertainment. Buhl, ID is a city of about 4,000 residents just west of Twin Falls, on the old Oregon Trail. Buhl is known as the Trout Capital of the World, boasting numerous hatcheries that produce most of the rainbow trout consumed in the United States. Many residents of both Twin Falls and Buhl own acreages and homes that are less expensive compared to much of the nation.
Jerome, ID has a population of 9,500 and attracts about 250 new residents each year. The city has a nice quality of life and excellent schools. In fact, the Jerome Tiger Advanced Speech Team has won the Idaho State Speech Championship 10 times in the last 13 years.
Burley, ID is a city of 9,300 residents in Cassia and Minidoka counties, and is the second-largest city in the Magic Valley after Twin Falls. Residents of the Cassia County portion of Burley are zoned to five schools in the Cassia County School District, while residents of the Minidoka County portion of Burley are zoned to three schools in the Minidoka County School District. Burley is also home to the well-known annual Spudman Triathlon.
Four Other Communities

Senior Citizen Living
Twin Falls is home to BridgeView Estates, which offers independent residences, assisted living and medical care staff all under one roof. There is now a waiting list at BridgeView, so its developers are planning a similar facility in another part of Twin Falls. Key reasons for BridgeView’s popularity are its caring staff and an affordable residential cost structure.
