This already artsy city was given a big boost with the introduction of the Bloomington Arts and Entertainment District. BEAD is Bloomington's attempt to bring the business and creative sectors together by establishing a 60 block district of 'fabulocity.' This fabulousness includes galleries, music venues, performing arts centers and blocks upon blocks of restaurants, shops, parks and neighborhoods. Basically, it offers it all. Beats. Eats. Arts. Digs. Programs put on by the district include Weekly Wednesdays, time booked with classes or workshops at free or affordable prices, and First Fridays with live music and late store hours. But this city's art scene extends far beyond its newest cultural district. The Indiana University Art Museum itself is a work of art, designed by famed architect I.M. Pei.
