Crown Point Lucky to Have Many Top Schools, Colleges

The education system in Crown Point deserves high marks, with many top schools for students to attend. Several have earned accolades; for example, has recognized Crown Point High School and Dwight D. Eisenhower as two of the best schools in all of Indiana.

Crown Point Community School Corp.

The city's public school district has seven elementary schools, two middle and one high school. SchoolMatch of Columbus, Ohio, ranks public school districts throughout the country, and Crown Point has been chosen as one of their best in the nation. Approximately 7,250 students are in the Crown Point Community School Corp.

Parochial Schools

The city is home to several top parochial schools to choose from, including Crown Point Christian School, Pathway Christian School, St. Mary Catholic Community School, and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School.

Horizon Career College

Horizon is a two-year private college for students looking to go into medical careers. Program offerings include medical/clinical assistant, allied health and medical assisting services, surgical technology, licensed practical/vocational nurse training, and nurse/nursing assistant.

Hyles-Anderson College

This is a private Bible college designed to train students for Christian ministries. Their purpose is to provide a spiritual, academic and cultural atmosphere to train America’s future pastors, assistant pastors, evangelists, song leaders, youth workers and missionaries.

Purdue University Calumet's Academic Learning Center

Besides Purdue University, Indiana University North also schedules many of its classes at ALC, which means that students get the convenience of attending classes from two major universities at one place. The center is conveniently located near I-65 and Route 30.

IU Northwest Academic Learning Center

As part of the Indiana University system, IU Northwest in Gary provides all the services and opportunities of a large university combined with the advantages and atmosphere of a small college. Student enrollment is around 4,700, and a faculty-student ratio of 1 to 14.

Ivy Tech Community College Northwest–Gary

Ivy Tech has educated students in Lake and five other counties since 1968. Six schools compose the college’s offerings: applied science and engineering, business, education, health sciences, liberal arts and sciences, public and social services, and technology.
