One of the growing institutes of learning in this region is Bluegrass Community and Technical College, which has grown from 200 students in 2002 at its Danville campus to more than 1,800 students today.
Programs offered include business management and marketing, electrical technology, industrial maintenance technology, machine tool technology, medical information technology, nurse aide, practical nursing, registered nurse and welding technology. And recently, the two-year BCTC began partnering with Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky so that BCTC students can take several courses in Danville that are transferable to EKU and UK.
Another higher education institution that is easily accessible to Danville-Boyle County residents is Centre College, which was ranked among the top 50 liberal arts college in the United States by U.S. News and World Report for 2010. Other top local education options include Mid-Continent University and National College.
