Danville restaurants know the meaning of fresh food. With homemade products and lots of interesting menu options, it's hard to not love what you eat. Here's a small sampling of some popular Danville dining favorites:
Baked Goods and Tasty Treats
Burke's Bakery, found in the center of downtown Danville, maintains a winning combination of delicious food and hometown atmosphere. Burke's is tinged with nostalgia for many locals, who relied on the establishment for the birthday cakes of their childhood and the wedding cakes of adulthood. All Burke’s baked goods are made fresh each morning, which means no stale donuts, bread, or cookies are to be heard (or tasted) of.
The glazed donuts and Chocolate Delites are frequent favorites among customers. Carbo Loading is definitely encouraged with signature menu items such as the Salt-risen bread, Persian rolls and Butterflake rolls. Customers are always encouraged to snatch a batch of Burke’s gingerbread cookies or apple sauce cake before heading out.
Order fun and surprising cakes or cupcakes at The Twisted Sifter Cake Shoppe. Fresh ingredients and homemade frostings are used to create a custom cake for your special occasion. Pick your sweets for a pre-wedding party, wedding, birthday or any other occasion you can think up. The shoppe serves the Danville, Louisville, Lexington and Nicholasville areas.
One of the newest gathering spots in Danville is Mallard's Restaurant, located on the city's west side next to Danville Cinemas 8. It is open from 10:30 a.m.-midnight seven days a week, and owned by Centre College grad Gregory Hoskins. Mallard's offers American-style food such as Angus hamburgers and many sandwiches, and has seating for 250 that includes an outdoor patio. The restaurant has 24 TVs for sporting events, and seven different sound zones to provide some privacy.
Ladies and gentlemen...it's Lipstick Pistol. 303 W of Danville is a new eatery located at 303 West Main in the downtown district, and is owned by Mark and Jan Cassidy. Hub's entire menu of made-to-order breakfast, lunch and dinner is available at any time of the day. A variety of fair-trade, organic coffees can be sipped while customers make use of free wireless Internet service. On Friday and Saturday nights, The Hub even provides free live music to customers.
