Traverse City is home to the regional referral center, Munson Community Health Center (MCHC), a health care hub for the 24 counties in the Traverse City area. This hub is the coordinator of all the local health care services; it reaches out to small, private clinics and thereby serves the full Traverse City region and beyond.
Munson Medical Center (MMC) is the largest hospital in northern Michigan. It serves the area with approximately 391 beds and more than 400 physicians who represent 57 different specialties.
The various health services included at MMC are behavioral health, cancer treatment, dialysis, emergency services, a healthy weight center, a hearing clinic, heart services, home health, hospice and palliative care, integrative medicine, occupational health and medicine, orthopedics, a pharmacy, rehabilitation services, senior's health, a sleep disorders center, stroke care, teen's health, urgent care, urology, and women and children’s health.
Another thoughtful service that the hospital provides is the Munson Manor Hospitality House. The Hospitality House is a home away from home for out-of-town family members who wish to visit a patient in the hospital and need a place to stay.
