Traverse City’s Inland Seas Education Association helps individuals understand the ecology of the Great Lakes by offering guided sailing trips around Grand Traverse Bay. By spending time on these “floating classrooms,” participants can understand the importance of caring for the Great Lakes as they learn from volunteer instructors and professional staff. Educational programs offered by the Inland Seas Education Association are the perfect complement to classroom studies in several of the "ologys" - ecology, geology, biology, and meteorology. The entire family can learn about the Great Lakes together through the Family Schoolship programs offered by the association. Science day camps and school field trips are also offered at the Inland Seas Education Center in nearby Suttons Bay, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
