Moorhead offers people a small-town, suburban feel with its approximately 40,000 residents within the much larger Fargo-Moorhead MSA of more than 200,000 people. Half of all residents are married, and nearly 30 percent of all residents have children. Sixty percent of residents own their homes.


Besides being the largest employer, Moorhead Area Public Schools draws new residents looking to take advantage of its excellence in academics and extra curricular programs for students. In terms of public schools, students may attend three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Three private options are available to parents and students: St. Joseph's Catholic School, Red River Valley Academy and Park Christian School.


Moorhead's more than 25 regional, community, and neighborhood parks are an attractive lure to the city and bring neighbors together once they're here.
