To really get to know Rochester, get to know its cuisine. Here are a few local favorites.

Fine Dining

From rotisserie chicken to strawberry shortcake, Chester’s Kitchen & Bar is a favorite. Try a grilled New York Strip, Parmesan Crusted Walleye, or one of the meal-size salads. The Hubbell House specializes in seafood, like the fresh-caught walleye pike. Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery offers small plates, salads and contemporary entrees. Other top spots include Terza, Pescara, The Loop and Victoria’s Fine Italian Cuisine.

Casual Dining

Whistle Binkies Olde World Pub and Whistle Binkies on the Lake offer sandwiches, pasta and other eats for the whole family. Also family-friendly, Canadian Honker is known for its Eggs Benedict, nine-ounce hand-patted burgers, and its “world famous” Bunnies Coconut Cake. Stop in Wildwood Sports Bar & Grill, Twigs Tavern & Grille and Five West for a burger or pizza. Forager, Bleu Duck Kitchen, Grand Rounds and Hy-Vee Market Grille also receive high marks.

Pizza

Look for the Twisted Barrel Wood Fired Pizza trailer parked in front of Rochester breweries. Sit down for generous servings of pizza or pasta at Mr. Pizza North, while zpizza offers pizza whole or by the slice, made with organic tomato sauce and non-GMO flour. Also sample Toppers, 5 Dollar Pizza and Godfather’s to pick your personal favorite.

Sweets & Smoothies

Carroll’s Corn makes gourmet popcorn daily. Don’t pass by Chocolaterie Stam without trying its Dutch chocolates and homemade Stroopwafels, local favorites since 1913. Other dessert stops include Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Great Harvest Bread Company (muffins!), and You Betcha Cupcake! Healthier options abound at Inta Juice and TONIC, both popular juice bars.

International

India Garden serves traditional Indian cuisine and a daily lunch buffet. For flavorful Mediterranean cuisine, head to Nupa. Francisco Corripio serves empanadas, sandwiches and daily entrees at Francisco’s Cuban Café. Don’t miss Mac’s Café and Restaurant for Greek cuisine. Other options include Blue Diamond Indian Restaurant and Royal Indian Cuisine.
