Get your caffeine boost at places like It's a Grind, Kaldi's Coffee, Lakota Coffee Company and Vida Coffee Company. Vida is on the University of Missouri campus and offers fresh-brewed coffee and espresso options to students and professionals. Also available are smoothies and sports drinks.
Cafes and Diners
Step up to the plate at a variety of unique little dining establishments such as 63 Diner, Broadway Diner, Campus Bar & Grill and Lucy's Corner Café. 63 Diner has been a Columbia mainstay for many decades and is kitschy with 1950s decorations, and serves American-style breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
The dishes are hot and spicy at places like Agave Mexican Restaurant, Chipolte Mexican Grill and El Jimador.
You might say ‘buon appetito’ at dining establishments such as Gumby's Pizza and Wings, Shakespeare’s Pizza and Wise Guys Pizza. Shakespeare’s Pizza has been voted the best hangout for University of Missouri students, with pizzas that have two dozen topping options along with menu items such as salads, garlic bread and Brighton’s cookies.
Steaks and Barbecue
The grills are fired up at popular spots such as Angelo's Pizza and Steak, Bandanas BBQ, Buckingham Smokehouse Bar-B-Q, G&D Steak House and Ernie's Cafe & Steakhouse. A big seller at Bandanas BBQ is its massive platter of barbecue pork, beef, chicken and turkey along with Bandanas’ famous ribs.
It’s a small world thanks to excellent ethnic restaurants in Columbia that include Bangkok Gardens, Formosa Chinese Restaurant, HuHot Mongolian Grill, India's House, Saigon Bistro. The Samurai teriyaki at HuHot Mongolian Grill is the chef’s favorite, and other options include the burn-your-village barbecue and the kung poo yow!
