St. Joseph, MO

St. Joseph is a small city on the Missouri River brimming with history and charm but with an eye fixed firmly on the horizon. For those considering a relocation, there are many reasons St. Joseph is a great place to live.

Downtown St. Joseph is bustling with boutiques, coffee shops and craft breweries, and dotted with public art like murals and sculptures. And there are tons of fun things to do, including mini golf and an entertainment complex with a smash room, ax throwing and more.

The city also is home to 14 museums (soon to include a Children’s Discovery Center), plus outdoor amenities like parks and trails, making it a great place to raise a family

One of the city’s key attractions is The Parkway, a 26-mile loop of walkways, bike paths and drivable byways that link local attractions like Phil Welch Stadium, Krug Park, Hyde Park and the Remington Nature Center, and events take place on the Parkway year round.

St. Joe offers an affordable cost of living, with home prices less than half the national average and well below nearby cities such as Kansas City.

Established as a 19th-century frontier town, St. Joseph is peppered with historic Greek Revival, Victorian and Craftsman mansions just waiting to be lovingly restored — and with lower housing costs, St. Joe is a home renovator’s dream.

Jobs in St. Joseph are plentiful at local companies including Altec engineering, pork producer Triumph Foods and Sealed Air, which provides packaging solutions. It’s also a great place to launch your small business, with lots of resources for entrepreneurs and support from the Missouri SBDC.
