St. Louis, MO residents always have plenty to do, such as visiting great parks and attractions that offer experiences found nowhere else, cheering on three professional sport teams and sampling authentic cuisine from around the world.

Best St. Louis Attractions

Several of the city’s most popular attractions are in Forest Park, an attraction itself as the site of the 1904 World’s Fair and now home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum – all offering free admission, The Muny. To learn more about these and other attractions, Forest Park even has its own visitors guide.

Any visit to St. Louis also merits a visit to the The Gateway Arch.

Another St. Louis destination unlike any other is the City Museum just west of the Arch downtown. The museum dazzles guests with its four-story MonstroCity outdoor playground that complement four indoor floors of eclectic experiences constructed from old and new materials – all conceptualized by internationally acclaimed artist Bob Cassilly and a team of 20 artisans.

Sports and Nightlife in St. Louis

An entertaining evening in St. Louis can include cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball team, the St. Louis Blues National Hockey League team or the St. Louis Rams National Football League franchise.

Patrons of fine musical art flock to performances by the St. Louis Symphony, the second-oldest symphony in the country, while fans of more modern music should check out the calendar for bigger name artists at the Fox Theatre or Peabody Opera House. For the more up-and-coming (or relatively obscure) acts, head to more intimate venues such as Atomic Cowboy, Old Rock House or Broadway Oyster Bar for blues.

For movie nights with a retro flair, check out the Moolah Theatre or The High Pointe for affordable tickets and atypical cinema experiences. For example, at the Moolah, which is located in a restored former Shriners Temple, guests can relax on leather couches and love seats for a film, or head downstairs for bowling.

Must-Try St. Louis Food and Drinks

Everyone talking St. Louis food insists the uninitiated must-try Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, which you can sample with a movie at the aforementioned High Pointe, or stop in one of the business’ two locations.

Another St. Louis dining requirement is Italian food. After all, baked ravioli was invented here. Your best bet for multiple choices would be a visit to The Hill neighborhood where scores of Italian eateries are at the ready for diners craving authentic Italian food. St. Louis Magazine published a handy guide for navigating The Hill’s best Italian restaurants.

Meanwhile, people exploring the city center can dig into delicious pasta and more at the Charlie Gitto’s Downtown location, or for elevated pub grub with more than 200 beers available – 55 of those on tap – check out The Bridge Tap House and Wine Bar.
