Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi
Part of Baptist Memorial Health Care System, Oxford's Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi includes 217 beds and is home to more than 90 medical and surgical specialists. The hospital comprises the Baptist Centers for Cancer Care, which is one of two accredited cancer centers in northern Mississippi, as well as a heart care center, sleep disorders center and weight loss center. In addition, the hospital has an emergency department, women's pavilion, surgery center, rehabilitation unit and other services.
Focused on the health of the community, the facility features the Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi HealthPlex, which covers more than 15,000 square feet and includes a fitness area with treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bicycles and weight equipment. The HealthPlex also offers exercise classes, such as spin and Zumba, and provides free child care. Members can also enjoy consultations with registered dietitians and fitness trainers.
North Mississippi Regional Center
The North Mississippi Regional Center provides comprehensive care for mentally disabled individuals. The facility's main campus, located in Oxford, provides residential and active treatment to 285 patients, and also serves patients in community-based group homes and supported living situations.
Additionally, the center offers Project RUN, which is designed to assist developmentally delayed children from birth to age three, and provides home- and community-based services such as behavior support intervention; support coordination; and physical, occupational and speech therapies. The Technology Assistive Device Center is also available, where both children and adults can be trained to use augmentative communication, access computers in new ways and more.
North Mississippi Regional Center, open since 1973, is licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health as an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded.
