With just a 25-minute drive from Ole Miss, Wall Doxey State Park is a great place to spend a day fishing, hiking, playing disc golf or bird watching. Sardis Lake is surrounded by the John W. Kyle State Park, which also offers a variety of recreational activities such as camping, boating and picnicking. Hunting is another popular pastime in the Upper Sardis Wildlife Management Area with game such as deer, dove, quail, woodcock and more.
Puskus Lake Recreation Area is a great place to see the Holly Springs National Forest. Students have the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of campus and spend a peaceful day sunbathing and boating at Puskus Lake.
Family-friendly parks in Oxford include the newly renovated Avent Park complete with tennis courts, baseball fields and more. The FNC Park is Oxford’s newest with more than 75 acres of baseball and soccer fields. Skateboarders and BMX bikers can have their fun not only at FNC but also at the Oxford Skate Park. The Oxford Activity Center leaves room for indoor sports with basketball courts and gymnastics facilities.
Head out on a two-wheeling adventure on Oxford's bike trails. The Clear Creek trail near Sardis Lake offers three routes for beginner, intermediate and expert riders. The Fruit Loops trail also offers many difficulty levels within a 400-mile radius. Bikers can make the trek up to the Firetower site, which is the second-highest point in Mississippi.
The Country Club of Oxford 18-hole course was recently renovated as a Fazio-designed course. University Golf Club, also known as the Ole Miss Golf course, features 18 holes as well. Other notable and prestigious courses are Mallard Pointe Golf Course and Yoda Creek Golf Club.
