Promise Hospital of Vicksburg is a long-term acute care hospital that offers patients specialized care and extensive therapy.

A pair of well-regarded local hospitals continue to serve the medical needs of patients throughout Vicksburg and Warren County, with a number of services available at both River Region Medical Center and Promise Hospital of Vicksburg.

River Region Medical Center

This diverse inpatient and outpatient hospital has 372 beds, and more than 25,000 people visit the emergency room each year. River Region Medical Center accepts nearly 10,000 annual patient admissions, and surgeons perform about 3,500 inpatient surgeries and 4,500 outpatient procedures a year.

The hospital earned accreditation as a chest pain center and has the distinction of being Mississippi’s first digital mammography center, while other services include heart and vascular care, alcohol and drug rehab, behavioral health treatment and cancer care. Also available to patients are rehabilitation programs, a sleep disorder center, senior care programs and women’s health facilities.

New at River Region Medical is robotic surgery, which uses computer-assisted technology to aid physicians in a variety of surgical procedures. Instead of cutting large incisions in patients, surgeons use small instruments that fit through a series of small incisions, resulting in minimal invasion, reduced scarring and faster recovery time. Robotic surgery means less blood loss and transfusions, less pain after surgery, lower risk of infection and shorter hospital stays.

Promise Hospital of Vicksburg

Specializing in treating patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, Promise Hospital of Vicksburg also has a top wound treatment center. The hospital’s cardiopulmonary program helps people who have difficulty breathing due to acute maladies such as multiple organ failure, severe injuries, or ailments such as chronic asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer or pneumonia. Most patients at Promise need longer stays in the hospital as part of their recovery process.

Promise is also known for its advanced wound care program, dedicated to preventing the spread of bruising as well as restoring skin integrity for people with chronic, non-healing wounds. The staff of doctors utilizes a team intervention philosophy to diagnose, properly treat and speed the healing process.
