Did You Know?

Great Falls is known as the Museum Capital of Montana. The city includes more than a dozen destinations that chronicle the region’s history, heritage and native culture, such as the Montana Museum of Railroad History, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and The History Museum, which features more than 10,000 artifacts and 70,000 photos detailing the history of central Montana. A major draw is the C.M. Russell Museum, which holds one of the nation’s largest collections of paintings, sculptures, drawings and illustrated letters from the fabled “cowboy artist” Charles M. Russell. Another signature museum is the Children’s Museum of Montana, which draws more than 60,000 visitors a year and features hands-on exhibits that promote the exploration of science, math and culture.

Things are Going Swimmingly

The O’Haire Motor Inn in Great Falls has been offering guests a good night’s sleep since 1962 as well as quality meals at Clark & Lewie’s Downtown Pub & Grill.

No visit to the Great Falls mainstay would be complete, however, without a visit to the Sip ’n Dip Tiki Lounge, which GQ named the No. 1 bar in the world worth flying for and The New York Times called the “campiest place on Earth.” The Sip ’n Dip is most famous for its nightly mermaid shows, where underwater swimmers are visible to customers through a glass wall between O’Haire’s pool and the tiki bar. The mermaids perform a show, while patrons enjoy their beverages, with a piano player adding music to accompany the performances. Mermaid shows are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hop to It

Great Falls has worked up a thirst for craft brewing.

One of its brewery mainstays took on new ownership and a name change in 2018.

Jeremiah and Katie Johnson took over ownership of The Front Brewing Co., which was established in 2012. The brewery, now known as Jeremiah Johnson Brewing Co., produces canned beers sold at retail markets throughout Montana and on tap at establishments across the state.

The brewery’s malt comes from the Malteurop North America facility in Great Falls, which sources more than three quarters of its barley from growers in Montana’s Golden Triangle.
