Great Falls is known as the Museum Capital of Montana. The city includes more than a dozen destinations that chronicle the region’s history, heritage and native culture, such as the Montana Museum of Railroad History, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and The History Museum, which features more than 10,000 artifacts and 70,000 photos detailing the history of central Montana. A major draw is the C.M. Russell Museum, which holds one of the nation’s largest collections of paintings, sculptures, drawings and illustrated letters from the fabled “cowboy artist” Charles M. Russell. Another signature museum is the Children’s Museum of Montana, which draws more than 60,000 visitors a year and features hands-on exhibits that promote the exploration of science, math and culture.
