Health Care Options in Asheville

With a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities, traditional and alternative health care options, not to mention a farm-to-table approach to nutrition and a laid-back, creative atmosphere, it’s no wonder greenerideal.com named Asheville one of the Top Five Healthiest and Greenest Cities in America.

Traditional Medicine

While Asheville has a reputation for its homeopathic and holistic healing choices, the city also has state-of-the-art traditional medical facilities, including Mission Health System. Asheville’s Mission Hospital offers cancer, heart and neurology services as well as a comprehensive range of gynecological and pediatric care services and is the region’s only Level II Trauma Center.

Park Ridge Health, the region’s only faith-based hospital, has a history of community outreach and a commitment to the city’s wellness. The hospital hosts free health screenings, support groups, and educational classes and workshops. Park Ridge offers services in more than 30 areas of care, including orthopedics and sports medicine.

Another option for Asheville residents is CarePartners, which provides rehabilitation, home health, adult care and hospice services for patients throughout western North Carolina.

The Charles George VA Medical Center serves veterans in western North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and eastern Tennessee, offering preventative and general care as well as mental health services, rehabilitation and treatment for spinal cord injuries.
