Elizabeth City is a food lover's dream, offering all kinds of flavorful meals and sweet treats for diners to enjoy.

Dinner Favorites

Enjoy a great meal in the warm, inviting atmosphere at Montero's. The extensive menu offers diners a little bit of everything, from juicy filet mignon to French Quarter shrimp and chicken.

"In the recent past we were always known for our steaks," says owner Andy Montero. "But in the last six months to a year, we have really been drawing in folks for our seafood. I think that having unique and one-of-a-kind entrees helps us most of all."

A few of the distinctive dishes on Montero's menu include the Chicken Ashley, brown-sugar-encrusted pork chops and gingered salmon.

Cypress Creek Grill offers gorgeous views of the Pasquotank River from every seat in the house, including the bar. If you're a fan of Tex-Mex, Creole and Gulf Coast seafood, you'll find all your favorites here. The menu includes offerings like the smoked jalapeno and feta-crusted chicken breast, Creole crab cakes and beef or chicken fajitas.

Grouper's Waterfront Seafood Restaurant also features great views of the river. Enjoy fresh seafood, steaks, pasta dishes and more in the indoor dining room or on the large waterfront deck.

Lunch Hotspots

Stop in Souper Simple Café for tasty sandwiches, soups, pastries and coffee drinks.

Sidney's Café and Bistro offers many lunchtime favorites, from a tuna salad melt to a cheeseburger bacon meatloaf sandwich served on sourdough bread. Sidney's is also famous for delicious cookies and scones.

If barbecue is what you crave for your midday meal, drop by Currituck BBQ Company, which specializes in smoked barbecued pork, beef and chicken as well as homemade sides and desserts. Bob-B-Q serves all kinds of tasty slow-cooked Eastern North Carolina pork barbecue favorites with its own special vinegar-based sauce.

Spicy hick dogs, hot dogs with hot sauce and all the fixings, are the specialty at Bryon's Hot Dog Stand. Bryon's also serves daily specials like chicken pot pie, chili and taco salad.

Sweet Treats

The Cupcakery's cupcakes, cakes and pastries are as beautiful as they are delicious. Sweet Rush Bakery offers a unique assortment of fresh-baked goodies and breads. Specialty cakes for weddings, birthdays and other events are available from both bakeries.

Kathy's Kreations and its sister restaurant, The Wildflower Café, have all kinds of just-out-of-the-oven desserts, like cheesecake bars and marble brownies, in addition to tasty specialty sandwiches and salads.
