No matter the time of year, both residents of and visitors to Greensboro, N.C., can find plenty to do – from big-time events to an eclectic lineup of dining options.


Those interested in art and culture may have trouble deciding where to begin in Greensboro. There is a place for reflection at the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, which memorializes the courage of the Greensboro Four during their sit-in at the F.W. Woolworth lunch counter on Feb. 1, 1960.

Young and old alike will enjoy the whimsical Greensboro Children’s Museum, which includes hands-on play for youngsters and plenty of exhibits for the older set. The Weatherspoon Art Museum at University of North Carolina-Greensboro, considered one of the state’s best, has some 17,000 square feet of exhibition space.

Big Events

Some of the biggest names in music and entertainment appear year round at the Greensboro Coliseum, not to mention a variety of traveling shows. But the facility is perhaps best known as the most-frequent host of the annual men’s and women’s Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Tournament. Sedgefield Country Club is home to the Wyndham Championship, featuring the world’s best golfers and one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour.


Greensboro has plenty of dining options, and many are local and quite unique. Table 16 Restaurant specializes in global cuisine, combining New World influences such as Caribbean or Creole with Old-World flavors of Spain or Italy. At the northern end of Greensboro’s downtown district is Undercurrent Restaurant, a recipient of the North American Restaurant Association’s Award of Excellence.
