Lighten Up Onslow: That’s the name of an annual community wellness program sponsored by Onslow Memorial Hospital that encourages residents to eat healthier and keep active. The program takes place from June to December and has seen successful results during its first two years of operation.
As for the Jacksonville hospital itself, Onslow Memorial is a 162-bed facility that serves the coastal North Carolina region and is nationally accredited by The Joint Commission. A medical staff of 100 doctors is credentialed in 25 areas, including cardiology, dermatology, family practice, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, plastic surgery and urology.
On site are facilities like a Women’s Imaging Center and a Heartburn Center, and the hospital’s emergency department treats about 50,000 patients a year. The ER has such amenities as four large operating rooms, six observation beds and a family conference room.
