Rendezvous Mountain Educational State Forest

The Educational State Forest is home to miles of trails for hiking‚ mountain biking and horseback riding‚ and there is an excellent 360-degree panoramic view from the fire tower. A Talking Tree Trail also informs visitors about trees and the forest history with a push of a button on several trees along the way. Rendezvous Mountain offers several other educational programs for school children and visitors.

W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir

Water is the source of life and the main source of entertainment at W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir‚ where the dam creates a popular place for fishing‚ boating and swimming. Camping‚ picnicking and hunting can also be experienced among the beautiful surroundings near the pristine waters.

Stone Mountain State Park

Stone Mountain State Park draws hikers year round‚ and trout fishermen cast their lines into the park’s many streams. A total of 30 routes for climbing on the face of Stone Mountain make for an adventure-filled day, or visitors can pitch a tent and stay for a weekend in one of several campgrounds. Stone Mountain is North Carolina’s second largest state park and has 75 picnic sites with 35 shelters. Visitors might also get lucky and see a bear along the 5 1/2-mile equestrian trail.

The Edge Skate Park

And for skateboarding adrenaline junkies, they have an excellent opportunity to indulge their high-rolling ways at The Edge. The park is located at 1606 Industrial Drive and features four-foot ramps with a half-pipe, and is also home to a BMX bike track.
