Winston-Salem has two large regional medical institutions, Forsyth Medical Center and Wake Forest Baptist Health. Both award-winning facilities serve as flagships for sizable health-care corporations and regional medical centers.

Forsyth Medical Center

One of the largest health-care systems in the state, Forsyth Medical Center has more than 900 beds and is recognized as one of the best hospitals in North Carolina. It has been named one of 100 Great Hospitals by Becker’s Hospital Review and has received national honors for excellent treatment of patients with heart failure and stroke victims from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center

Almost 900 beds fill nationally renowned hospital Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The facility is Winston-Salem’s largest employer and is ranked in four specialties on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list, as well as the website’s Top Doctors and Most Connected Hospitals lists. Wake Forest Baptist has also earned an A in hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group.

Part of Wake Forest Baptist Health, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is joined by Wake Forest University School of Medicine, North Carolina Baptist Hospital, and Brenner Children’s Hospital and Health Center.
