Wake Forest University
Private and coeducational Wake Forest University has about 7,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Winston-Salem. With schools in various specialties, such as divinity, medicine, law and management, students have plenty of options.
Wake Forest is a nationally renowned university. A U.S. News & World Report America’s Best Colleges report determined that Wake Forest is 25th overall among national universities. The same publication also ranked the university’s undergraduate teaching 12th in the country. Wake Forest’s business school is also noteworthy. University of North Carolina School of the Arts
The first conservatory funded by the state, University of North Carolina School of the Arts students receive invaluable career-oriented training in the arts area of their choice. The university has five different professional schools: the School of Dance, Design and Production, Drama, Filmmaking, and Music.
Winston-Salem State University
Winston-Salem State University is a public research school that has served a historically African-American student body. A member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Winston-Salem State University has more than 6,000 students enrolled and offers 40 academic majors and seven graduate degrees.
The university has been consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the South’s top public comprehensive baccalaureate colleges.
Forsyth Technical Community College
Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem is one of the largest community colleges in the state. More than 11,000 credit students and 31,000 corporate and continuing education students are enrolled in this school’s eight locations. Forsyth Tech offers about 35 diplomas, 67 certificates and almost 70 associates degrees.
