Dayton Power & Light changes its name to AES Ohio.
William Shakespeare once asked the question, “What’s in a name?” and in the case of Dayton Power & Light, the company’s name is brand-new.
DP&L is now AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, a Virginia-based company that is one of the leading electric power generation and distribution companies in the world. AES Corporation and its subsidiaries specialize in energy.
“We are seeking to create the energy services of the future that will help the Dayton area continue to attract new jobs and grow the economy.”
Kristina Lund, AES Ohio president
AES Ohio officials say that for more 110 years, DP&L delivered safe, reliable and affordable energy to its Dayton and Miami Valley customers. AES Ohio will continue to provide the lowest residential rates in the entire Buckeye State.
“AES Ohio is also accelerating technology and digital transformations so we can deliver greener and smarter energy solutions for our customers,” says Kristina Lund, AES Ohio president. “In fact, an AES Smart Operations Centerdata headquarters will open later in 2021 in Dayton as an example of our high-tech digital transformation and economic development.”
More Power to You
The new name comes with a new logo and a familiar DP&L color to illustrate the company’s history. The new brand reflects the shared AES global resources, expertise and mission to deliver greener, smarter energy solutions.
“Our customers will never have to choose between reliability, affordability and sustainability,” Lund says. “We will ensure they can have all three.”
And to help all customers achieve their individual electricity-using objectives, Lund says AES Ohio will continue developing greater efficiencies and accelerate the future of energy “to benefit everyone from young families to thriving tech companies and everywhere in between.”
“We are seeking to create the energy services of the future that will help the Dayton area continue to attract new jobs and grow the economy,” she says. “It’s our pleasure to provide electric utility service to more than 527,000 customers in west central Ohio.”
