Down a country road on the edge of Stillwater, a 66-acre farm is home to a myriad of treasures, including wine.
Woodland Park Vineyards and Winery is an elegant scenic destination, offering a relaxing experience featuring antiques, art, food and wine. Picnic areas are surrounded with perennial flowers, rose and herb gardens.
“People come here to enjoy the scenery and the quiet,” says Jeanette Hane, who owns the vineyard with her husband Ivol.
Long involved in farming, the couple began growing grapes seven years ago due to their interest in wines.
With eight different varieties, the harvest at Woodland Park begins in late July and continues into September. Grape varietals include Riesling, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Gewurtziminer. Two acres of blackberries, elderberries and an apple, pear, plum orchard round out the fruit production.
“Art, horticulture and making good food are part of my experiences of life and livelihood,” Hane says, noting that Woodland Park is part of her history. Her grandparents first settled there in the 1920s.
Woodland Park Vineyards and Winery provides free wine tastings with the purchase of wine and offer tours of the winery to the public on Saturdays.
