Tulsa, OK: Health Overview

Tulsa has more than 15 hospitals and specialty care centers to serve residents' medical needs. The two largest facilities in the area are Saint Francis Hospital and St. John Medical Center, both of which have earned numerous awards and national top rankings, and they are also two of the city’s top employers.

Saint Francis Hospital

The Saint Francis Health System owns several hospitals, but its central location is Saint Francis Hospital in south Tulsa. With more than 3,000 employees, 700 doctors and 900 beds, the hospital is the second-largest health-care employer in Oklahoma. The system has been ranked in the top 5 percent of the country’s hospitals for clinical excellence by HealthGrades, and Thomson Reuters named Saint Francis Heart Hospital one of the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals.

St. John Medical Center

St. John Medical Center, employing almost 700 doctors, is located in an 11-story center and was ranked number one in the Tulsa metropolitan area in U.S. News Media & World Report’s 2011-12 Best Hospitals rankings. The center was also named one of the state’s Best of the Best hospital facilities by Oklahoma Magazine.
