Tulsa is unparalleled when it comes to arts and culture. Home to two world-famous art museums, multiple ballet companies and a professional opera, the city offers a multitude of choices for the arts lover. Tulsa’s calendar of events and area attractions have even more to offer residents and visitors.

Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum

Voted America’s Favorite Zoo by visitors, the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum is one of Tulsa’s best attractions. The zoo is owned by the city of Tulsa and situated on 78 acres of Mohawk Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Almost 1,500 animals call the zoo home, and its living museum area is full of exhibits that create a small ecosystem for plants and animals from all over the world.

Oktoberfest

German culture comes to Tulsa every fall during Oktoberfest. Brats and beers are mainstays, and the festival has been lauded for its superb cuisine by Bon Appetit. Additionally, USA Today and People magazine have praised its authenticity and fun factor.

The best part? Bands straight from Deutschland provide the perfect soundtrack to events such as the barrel race and carnival rides. And anyone who has ever been to a wedding can thank Tulsa’s Oktoberfest for an important addition to receptions: the Chicken Dance was performed for the first time in the states more than 30 years ago at Tulsa's Oktoberfest.

Nightlife

Tulsa’s nightlife scene features three Irish pubs. These watering holes make you feel like you have traveled to Ireland, but a pint is much cheaper than a plane ticket. These pubs are known for more than their beer selection; their traditional pub fare is popular with diners.
