Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art is considered one the best art museums in America. The museum is housed in the former estate of oil tycoon Waite Phillips, who donated the mansion and grounds to the city during the Great Depression. It is one of only five facilities in the country that includes a home, museum and gardens, and the sprawling 23 acres of the property are full of elaborate architecture, landscaping and artwork.
The Philbrook exhibits more than 8,500 works of art that span from Native American artifacts to modern and contemporary art from America and Europe.
About 150,000 people visit the Philbrook each year, basking in the art both on the walls and around them in the villa, a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance-style architecture.
