The Pocono Mountains region is no stranger to visitors or their desire to indulge in local libations and brews while visiting. The four-county region features wineries and breweries for visitors and residents alike that offer everything from striking views while you sip to organic apple wine and liqueur at the Pocono Limited Winery.

At the Mountain View Winery and Distillery, visitors can experience the aromatics of its full menu featuring wines (and spirits) from a dry red to a sweet white. Guests can pair wines with chocolates, hummus, gourmet cheeses and dips – all while being tucked in the mountainside in Neola.

A short distance away in Kresgeville, the family-owned Big Creek Vineyard puts meticulous detail into every vine and taste of its wines. The family believes in the “terroir” of their wine and invites guests to drink, reflect and enjoy their vineyard.

In the past decade, the many family-owned wineries have become an integral part of the Poconos communities. The unique tastes and selections of seven of the Poconos wineries are a short distance away from each other and have become known as the Poconos Wine Trail.

“The breweries and wineries bring a lot of people, and day traffic from two major metropolises,” says Brian Bossuyt, Director of Marketing at the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.“We’re working out the details of adding a tour package right now for the Poconos Spirits Trail.”

Brews are also a big hit in the region, with many microbreweries offering full menus to pair with unique craft beers with names like RIP’s Purple Magic Ale from the Irving Cliff Brewery, Slam Dunk Zen Dunkelwiezen at the Barley Creek Brewery, Sunfish Blonde Ale from the ShawneeCraft Brewing Company and the Chewhoppa IPA from the brewery 3 Guys & A Beerd.
