The Congaree Vista area is home to Motor Supply Company Bistro, which offers a mix of contemporary American, French, Italian and Asian food and a menu that changes twice daily. The restaurant also has more than 180 wines, as well as high-gravity beers and cocktails. Located nearby, Ristorante Divino is known for its Northern Italian food and has a selection of more than 400 wines from around the world.

Near the University of South Carolina campus, Garibaldi Café of Columbia serves Italian food in a sophisticated atmosphere and includes an art deco bar with an expansive wine menu.

Another favorite upscale spot is Solstice Kitchen & Wine Bar, located a short drive from Sesquicentennial State Park in northeast Columbia. The restaurant offers “New American” cuisine and a broad selection of wines, with cocktails and beer also available.

Casual Eateries

Offering a New York-inspired dining experience, DiPrato's Delicatessen has salads and sandwiches for lunch, and brunch is available on the weekends with menu items like eggs benedict and blueberry pancakes.

For burgers, Columbia diners head to Burger Tavern 77 in the Old Shannon neighborhood and Pawley's Front Porch in Five Points. Both eateries serve up classic combinations of made-to-order burgers and fries, as well as chicken dishes, salads and several sides.

Hunter-Gatherer Brewery & Alehouse, located in the downtown area, has pizza, sandwiches and hearty entrees such as smoked chicken ravioli and beer-braised chicken thighs. In addition, the eatery includes a selection of in-house brewed beers on tap.
