One of the fastest growing cities in America is Greenville, ranked five times among the Top 100 Places to Live by Livability.com and is also home to one of the Top 10 Best Downtowns. This pretty city in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is easy to get to, with its convenient location off Interstates 85, 185 and 385.

Once you get here, here are endless opportunities for fun things to do:

1. Divine Dining

Savor the flavor of independent restaurants in Greenville, where a variety of cuisine experiences are served fresh and tasty each day. Popular dining destinations include Bacon Bros. Public House, Kitchen Sync, Otto Izakaya, Sassafras Southern Bistro, The Lazy Goat and The Trappe Door.

2. Tour the Town

Learn fun facts about the city and visit interesting businesses and attractions by contacting Greenville History Tours. The company organizes driving tours and culinary tours, and there are mapped walking excursions along the historic downtown district’s West End.

3. Keep it Kid-Friendly

In downtown Greenville on the cultural campus of Heritage Green is Children’s Museum of the Upstate, which offers several interactive exhibits for youngsters to play and learn. CMU is the seventh-largest children’s museum in the nation.

4. A+ Acts

In the heart of Greenville’s downtown district is Peace Center, a building that hosts five resident companies where people can attend entertainment performances, including shows put on by the Carolina Ballet Theatre, Greenville Chorale, Greenville Symphony, International Ballet and South Carolina Children’s Theatre.

5. Raise Your Glass

Home of “The World’s Best Moonshine,†Dark Corner Distillery is an interesting place to spend a late afternoon or early evening, with six distinct moonshine spirits available for tasting and purchasing. All participants receive a free gift shot glass.

6. Learn About Joe

Baseball fans can visit Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum & Baseball Library, located in the house where the famous baseball legend lived and died. Shoeless Joe played Major League Baseball from 1908-1920 and had a lifetime batting average of .356 (third-best of all time), and he remains one of baseball’s most beloved players.

7. Hit the Plaza

In downtown Greenville is ONE City Plaza, an interesting gathering place with a number of popular businesses. They include Aloft Greenville Downtown, Anthropologie, Caviar & Bananas Gourmet Market & Café, Mast General Store, Methodical Coffee, SIP Tasting Room & Rooftop Lounge and Tupelo Honey Café.

8. Soak It In

Take the kids to Otter Creek Waterpark, a refreshing attraction on Greenville’s north side that caters to children of all ages. Bigger kids can experience two body slides and a wave pool, and tikes can use a shallow entry pool, splash pad and tiny Tadpole slide. The park opens from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Greenville is also home to Reedy Falls, a 28-foot waterfall running right through the middle of Greenville’s Park on the Reedy. 

9. Giraffes, Gorillas and the Greenville Zoo

Wildlife from around the world is showcased in natural open-air exhibits at Greenville Zoo, which welcomes guests Monday – Sunday throughout the year. More than 400 animals are on display, and the zoo supports numerous conservation efforts.
