 Baylor leads.

Founded in 1893, the renowned independent Chattanooga school is a model of strong academic tradition and exciting innovation in a coeducational environment.

Welcoming a little more than 1,040 students from 23 states and 12 countries to its 690-acre campus, Baylor School offers day school for grades 6-12, as well as boarding options for high school students.

The camaraderie with peers from different states, regions and countries helps prepare students for academic and social success at the collegiate level. Small class sizes, a caring faculty focused on individual needs to help every student achieve their goals and a new $14 million academic center supports learners in that journey.

At the core of Baylor’s mission is a focus on fostering an ability and desire in students to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Leading by example, faculty in the Weeks Science and Technology Center’s state-of-the-art lab recognized Baylor had the capability to test for COVID-19 and became certified to assist the county in diagnostics during the pandemic.

The lab, which has relocated to a larger space on campus and has expanded to serve the region, now features genomic sequencing capabilities. Those lessons are not lost on students who are mentored in university-level engineering, environmental and biomedical research.

While known for academic rigor, Baylor’s focus is on developing well-rounded students with access to the arts and athletics. A huge selection of more than 20 fine arts courses is anchored by a nationally acclaimed choir program, drama, music, dance and visual arts offerings. For athletes, Baylor has more state championships than any other school in Tennessee, and Sports Illustrated ranks the school in the top 25 nationally for high school athletics.
