Let’s Do This
Major events, festivals and multicultural attractions provide fun entertainment in Greater Chattanooga.
Culture Fest, an annual celebration, highlights diverse cultures and features live performances, the Parade of Nations, multicultural displays and an art exhibition. The event celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2020.
The Chattanooga African American Heritage Museum & Bessie Smith Cultural Center preserve and celebrate African American history and culture through art, education, research and entertainment. What had been two separate organizations came together in 1996 in a renovated facility that includes the Bessie Smith Performance Hall, which pays homage to the late singer, known as the Empress of the Blues.
History enthusiasts can appreciate Point Park Battlefield, a 10-acre memorial to a Civil War battle commonly referred to as The Battle Above the Clouds. The Passage, a pedestrian link between downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River, marks the beginning of the Trail of Tears, the forced relocation of over 125,000 Native Americans.
