Successful businesses invest in themselves – and the Maury County Chamber & Economic Alliance is providing businesses across the area with resources to help them do this.
Within the business community, “there’s a hunger for professional development," says Kara Huckaby, director of the Maury County Chamber & Economic Alliance. "As the economy improves, there’s a growing desire to invest in growth and advancement."
Driving to Nashville for a seminar isn’t always an option for busy people, so the chamber is making opportunities available locally. These include regularly scheduled Lunch and Learn sessions that explore hot topics like social and e-mail marketing and strategic planning, as well as workshops focusing on leadership development.
The Chamber also sponsors programs like Women of Wisdom, which offers women business owners monthly opportunities to network and hear from business experts, and Generation Maury, which brings together young – and young-minded – leaders to exchange ideas each month.
“These are progressive, community-minded professionals," Huckaby says. "Not only do they want to network, but they also want to be engaged in professional and community development."
Chamber members don’t have to wait for a meeting to share news about themselves and their businesses, though. They can sign up for the chamber’s e-commerce package and post news releases, videos and photos directly on the chamber’s website, where other members and the general public can view their information. They can also post jobs, special offers and deals on the site at no charge.
"They have a page on our website, and they have control of that page," Huckaby says."For many people in Maury County and beyond, the chamber is the resource of choice."
