A quick tour of Franklin offers a mix of small-town Southern charm, engaging history and quirky attractions. Here's a sample itinerary to discover some of the best things to do and see in Franklin, all within a quick weekend visit.

Day 1:

6 P.M. Southern Comfort at Puckett's Grocery for Dinner

Experience some Southern hospitality at Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Franklin. Known for its good food and eclectic atmosphere, guests will get the Southern comfort they crave with classics like country fried steak and Puckett's BBQ platter.

8 P.M. Live Music at Puckett's, or Drinks at Bunganut

Stick around Puckett's to hear some of Franklin's finest singers and songwriters. The restaurant features live music most nights, starting from 7:30-8:30. For a change of scenery, try the Bunganut Pig Pub & Eatery. Bunganut features food, music, and games such as corn hole and pool.

Day 2:

8 A.M. Breakfast at Dotson's

Dotson's is a downtown Franklin fixture that's been serving up the diner classics for years. Don't let its hole-in-the-wall appearance fool you, this food's the real deal.

10 A.M. Tour of the Historic Carter House

See the site where the bloody Battle of Franklin took place, and the house that played a central role in the fight. Prior to the battle, the Carter House was used as Federal headquarters, and after became a hospital for the wounded. Guided tours of the grounds are available starting at 9:30 A.M.

12 P.M. Pizza at the Mellow Mushroom

Grab a bite at the Mellow Mushroom, located on the famous Franklin traffic circle. Pizza of all kinds and combinations can be found here.

2 P.M. Walk and Shop around Historic Downtown Franklin

Take in all Downtown Franklin has to offer, whether it be shopping at speciality shops like The Heirloom Shop and Main Street Toy Company, taking in the art scene at the Franklin Antique Mall or brushing up on your history on the Franklin on Foot.

6 P.M. Casual Upscale Dining at Saffire

Inside the Factory at Franklin, just minutes from downtown, you'll find one of Franklin's true hidden gems. Saffire offers an impressive menu in an eclectic environment

8 or 9 P.M. Show at the Boiler Room or Bowling at Franklin Lanes

Behind the Factory, the 120-seat Boiler Room Theatre provides a cozy venue to catch some of the latest buzz-worthy shows. If you'd rather a little activity, try a game or two of bowling at the nearby Franklin Lanes.


Day 3

6 or 7 A.M. Breakfast at Merridee's Breadbasket

Finish up your stay with a stop at Franklin's iconic Merridee's Breadbasket. Their speciality is baking, including breakfast staples like biscuits, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and almond swirls, though they also offer made-to-order omelets and eggs.
