Franklin

The far-reaching medical community in Williamson County is anchored by four major health-care providers. Here is a snapshot of each:

Williamson Medical Center

This 185-bed hospital, opened in 1958, serves the county’s patients with a full range of new and updated services. Williamson Medical Center provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, and features credentialed physicians in 53 specialties and sub-specialties. WMC has more than 1,400 employees managing 10,000 inpatient visits and 35,000 emergency visits each year, and physicians perform about 7,000 surgeries annually there. WMC has also teamed with Vanderbilt Health to establish Williamson County walk-in clinics in Brentwood, Cool Springs, Franklin and Spring Hill.

The hospital was awarded the Women’s Choice Award in 2015 and 2016 as one of America’s Best Breast Care Centers. The WMC Breast Health Center is now designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Saint Thomas Health

While its main campuses are in west Nashville and midtown, Saint Thomas Health also has a presence in Williamson County and is taking steps to increase it. STH operates a cardiac center at Williamson Medical Center, an outpatient rehabilitation clinic in Cool Springs, and a heart clinic and physical rehabilitation facility in Brentwood. Saint Thomas recently opened a medical group building in Fairview.

TriStar

HCA’s TriStar Health, which operates 15 hospitals and 10 ambulatory surgery centers in Tennessee as well as south central Kentucky and north Georgia, is also expanding its footprint in Williamson County. TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in south Nashville has served many of the county’s residents since 1979, but in recent years TriStar has made deeper forays. It opened a stand-alone ER in Spring Hill, a TriStar Health complex in Brentwood and an outpatient rehabilitation facility in Cool Springs.

Vanderbilt in Williamson County

Throughout Williamson County, Nashville-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center oversees nearly 20 facilities that include Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Cool Springs, Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Vanderbilt Cool Springs Surgery Center on Mallory Lane, Vanderbilt Bone & Joint, Vanderbilt Medical Group and four walk-in clinics that operate through its growing partnership with Williamson Medical Center. In 2015, the three-story Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt also opened on the Williamson Medical Center campus.

American Addiction Centers

Confidential treatment for substance abuse and behavioral health issues are the specialties of American Addiction Centers, which develops individual treatment plans for patients at its Brentwood building. Substance abuse treatments are available for alcohol, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, opiate and prescription drug addiction.
