With its hundreds of restaurants, retailers, and ever-growing office spaces, the Cool Springs area is bustling with development. While all that’s shiny and new may seem geared more toward a younger crowd, but Avenida Cool Springs in Franklin is working to change that.
The new community for people who are age 55 or greater is designed specifically to support active and healthy aging with programs, events and more.
“It’s for folks who don’t want to deal with maintenance of owning a home but want the socialization with like-minded people. We make life a little easier without taking away independence.” Says Robin Craig, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “It’s a different service than assisted living. We have no medical services.”
The property offers impressive amenities including modern, high-end apartments with full kitchens, an outdoor pool and spa, a pet park, bistro, yoga and fitness studio, theater, salon and more. Residents can also participate in additional offerings ala carte, such as catered meals, dry cleaning, travel planning and access to discounts at local businesses.
One of the most unique and attractive aspects to Avenida is its Five to Thrive program, a proprietary program that addresses the five key areas of healthy aging: life activity, material security, physical and functional fitness, cognitive efficacy, and social resources.
The goal of the program is to help residents feel better connected and encourage a sense of well-being and fulfillment. Residents learn how to continue engaging the mind, caring for the body, making the most of financial assets in the later phase of life, engaging in creative pursuits, and staying actively social in older age. Each month, an activity calendar is updated with choices for residents to participate in, such as shopping, creative writing classes, cardio classes, tech time, a travel club, volunteer opportunities, music classes and lots more.
“Everything is included in rent,” Craig says. “The program is really geared toward lifestyle factors that help you age well.”
