With only 40 years under its belt, Nashville State Community College has managed to grow from an initial enrollment of just 398 to its current number of 14,000. It's an impressive feat, but its what residents have come to expect from NSCC.
The two-year college now offers over 80 programs at an affordable tuition rate. The technical education provided at the school is geared towards preparing students for the workforce or providing a foundation for those that choose to move on to a four-year college.
The 109-acre campus is shared with the Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville, and is located close to the heart of downtown, making off campus recreation easy to find. The convenient location makes it an attractive option to many Nashville natives, as well as those in surrounding counties. The school also offers online and hybrid courses, allowing students to set their own schedules.
In 2009 NSCC racked up an impressive array of accolades. It won third place for Best University or college in the Tennessean's Reader's Poll, and it ranked number one in the Nashville Scene's Best of Nashville poll in the Best Place for Continuing Education category.
