A Fine Dining Find in Tiny Sewanee

Unexpected treasue in this rural college town

By Livability.com on August 11, 2015

Ivy Wild  is an unexpected dining pleasure in this rural college town, located about 45 minutes from Chattanooga, TN.

Open Thursday-Sunday evenings only, Ivy Wild has an innovative seasonal menu offering entrees more typical of urban fine dining.  Nifty presentation flourishes seem to be the chef’s passion, to wit: a single appetizer slice of creamy local cheese decorated with a wing-like cracker and a tiny flower and encircled by dots of jam-like delights.

Aged, locally sourced beef is typically atop the menu with a crispy duck breast, grilled salmon or sautéed sea bass likely companions. Service is mountain-friendly and the décor simple but inviting with a dark wood and paper-lantern ambience.

On the upper end of moderately priced, Ivy Wild seems to cultivate repeat visitors for a way-better-than-average evening out in this small town in Tennessee.   BYOB with modest corkage fee.
