Recreation
The town of Smyrna is a family-friendly town which offers plenty of outdoor activities. The Smyrna Parks & Recreation Department provides venues for small outdoor concerts at Gregory Mill Park as well as outdoor movie gatherings at the Rotary Soccer Park. There are many town-sponsored events throughout the year for great family fun, including: Halloween in the Park, Christmas Parade, Fourth of July Celebration and Depot Days. The Parks Department honors the volunteer coaches and parents of our various recreation leagues. Residents here can choose from a variety of recreational facilities incluidng 11 baseball/softball fields; the Rotary Soccer Park, which has 13 acres of soccer fields; Sharp Springs Park has 360 acres used by various recreation leagues, an 18-hole disc golf course, hiking trails 10 parks, an 18-hole golf course as well as a nine-hole executive course, canoeing and kayaking on Stewarts Creek and more than 12 miles of greenway and walking trails.
Close proximity to Nashville allows sports fans to easily make it to home games for the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Sounds, the AAA minor league baseball affiliate of the Oakland A’s which opened a brand new stadium in 2015.
Attractions and Festivals
Smyrna is home to the Sam Davis Home and is near other Civil War battlefields. The city is close to the Grand Ole Opry which is in Nashville. The Simply Smyrna Celebration, Depot Days and Downtown Christmas Celebration are three local events in Smyrna that draw people from across Middle Tennessee.
