Smyrna is home to the Sam Davis Home and Plantation, a great place to learn about the Civil War and experience events like the annual Victorian Christmas party or vintage baseball games. Davis was a young Confederate who was captured by Federal troops and refused to provide information vowing, "I would die a thousand deaths before I would betray a friend." He was hanged on Nov. 27, 1863.
