Taking into account traffic, safety and road quality, Waze scored Lexington, KY, number 38 globally in its Driver Satisfaction Index for 2018. Out of 10, the city earned 8.7 points for its lack of traffic density along with a high 8.5 for its road infrastructure and quality. Of course, in the Horse Capital of the World, traffic gets a little dicey during Keeneland, Lexington’s biggest thoroughbred horse race. But for a regular day, the average commute time takes 20.9 minutes. Not bad at all.

Besides all things horses, Lexington offers residents a fun, upbeat atmosphere courtesy of the University of Kentucky and a walkable downtown area. It’s no surprise the city earned a spot on Livability’s Top 100 Best Places to Live list. Housing is still relatively affordable, and if you’re a fan of bourbon, this is the place for you. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail includes 10 famous distilleries clustered around Lexington, so you can take your time and sample them all — without getting stuck in traffic!
